Vilma Emilia Koivisto is a Finnish footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented Finland at youth and senior level.
She moved to Sweden at 15 because she felt it offered better conditions to develop “to the very top of the world game.”
Before moving, she thought her Swedish was strong, but she said she initially understood almost nothing because of the local dialect.
She started football at four years old in a boys’ team because her club did not yet have a girls’ team for her age group.
Her father is former professional footballer Jarno Koivisto, who trained together with her when she was younger.
