Annika was born and raised in Espoo, Finland.
Huhta moved to the United States in 2021 to play for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, one of the most successful women's soccer programs in history.
After one season with the Tar Heels, she transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF), where she played for three seasons and served as a regular starter.
She is a "one-time" Finnish champion, having won the Kansallinen Liiga title with HJK Helsinki in 2019.
Huhta was the top scorer for Finland at the 2018 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship, where the team finished in third place.
She made her professional debut in Sweden for Kristianstads DFF on August 16, 2025.
She briefly played in Denmark for FC Midtjylland during the 2024/2025 season before transferring to the Damallsvenskan.
Her first football coach was Markku Kuronen, with whom she reportedly remains in close contact.
She suffered a cruciate ligament injury in August 2025, which sidelined her for the remainder of her debut season in Sweden.
Anikka has Bachelor’s degree of Science in Psychology.
