Waniya Hudson is an American professional football player who plays as a defender for the club Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League.

She comes from a sports loving family - both her parents and siblings did sports in college.

She also ran track in high school.

Her first football memory is watching her older sister play. She often went to her sister's games, running around and being inspired by her to start at eight years old.

Her favorite number is 20, given to her on her boys' club team in honor of Abby Wambach, who shares her birthday and is also from Rochester.

She majored in Pre-Medical Studies at the University of Notre Dame.

She admired Abby Wambach and even attended her football camps as a child.

She watches a lot of TV shows and movies.

Her favorite movie is Soul, which she describes as both sad and uplifting. She also loves The Pursuit of Happiness for its emotional and inspiring story.

For TV shows, she enjoys Fresh Prince of Bel Air, which is so special to her that it’s her phone’s lock screen wallpaper.

Her first job was at a summer tennis camp, where she eventually became a tennis coach. Her whole family participated in the camp over the years.

She admires Serena Williams.

Her first concert was at Gov Ball on her 21st birthday, where she saw Kendrick Lamar and Jazmine Sullivan perform and regretted missing Shaq’s EDM set.

She has always wanted to learn another language fluently, particularly Spanish or French.

In high school, she took ASL (American Sign Language) and hopes to become fluent in that as well.

Her fridge always has eggs or tuna. She enjoys tuna mixed with mayonnaise, garlic and onion powder, and pepper, either as a sandwich or with crackers.
