The UEFA Women's U19 Championship got underway last week, with defending champions Spain making a surprising start by dropping points in their opening match. The summer transfer window also remains in full swing, with clubs across Europe continuing to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season. And there's more good news for women's football fans. It's time for another edition of QB Weekly, bringing you the biggest stories from the past seven days.

Freya Godfrey's story continues in London

She was once seen as one of Arsenal's brightest prospects, but Freya Godfrey's career has taken her to London City Lionesses. First on loan, the young forward played a key role in helping the club earn promotion to the WSL. After that successful spell, the move was made permanent.

Despite sharing a dressing room with experienced international stars, Godfrey has shown she is anything but overawed. Her performances have not gone unnoticed, with England manager Sarina Wiegman rewarding the former Young Lionesses captain with her first senior call-up last season.

And Godfrey has not forgotten the club that helped her take the next step in her career. This week, she committed her future to London City Lionesses by signing a new contract that will keep her at the club until 2029.

Teen sensation Schröder joins Real Madrid in record deal

Felicia Schröder has already shown, at just 18 years of age, that she is one of the brightest talents in world football. The Swedish forward enjoyed a remarkable season, helping Häcken win the Damallsvenskan title before finishing as the league's top scorer. She then earned her first senior Sweden call-up and capped off her breakthrough campaign by scoring a hattrick to lead Häcken to victory in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup final.

Chelsea were among the teams keen to sign the teenage sensation, but it was Real Madrid who ultimately won the race for her signature. The reported transfer fee of around $1.5 million would make Schröder the most expensive female player in the history of women's football.

U19 Euro is here

Missing women's football already? Don't worry, the UEFA Women's U19 Championship is underway in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sweden got their campaign off to the perfect start with a victory over Poland, while defending champions Spain were held to a surprise draw by Switzerland. Emanuela Pfister scored the equaliser to earn the Swiss a valuable point and hand Spain an unexpected setback in their opening match.
