She will turn 18 in a few days. Last year, she made her debut for the Czech national team, specifically for its U17 team, and plays for the Fulham academy. We are talking about the promising Czech footballer Adéla Čechová.

She has Czech citizenship and plays in the Czech jersey, but she grew up in England. Why? Her father is Chelsea legend Petr Čech. However, Czech surnames in the feminine form end in -ová, which is perhaps why no one immediately associates the young Fulham player with the famous goalkeeper. This can also be an advantage for her—she is not burdened by a famous name.

The soon-to-be 18-year-old footballer not only grew up in England, but also began her football career there. Unlike her father and older brother, she did not become a goalkeeper, but plays in the field, specifically as a defender. She started playing for Andover New Street, from where she moved to Fulham.

Her current team noticed her during a match against her original club. Fulham won 1:0, but Adéla was very visible in the match and caught the eye of London's oldest club. It wasn't long before she started wearing the jersey of its youth team.

Rising star from Czechia

Of course, the talented defender was also being watched in the Czech Republic. Women's football is on the rise here too, although it is progressing more slowly than in countries that have already participated in the European Championship or World Cup. Czechia is still waiting for its debut, although it has come very close to qualifying for the European Championships twice.

Here, too, popularity is slowly growing, even though the Czech league has only two professional teams - Sparta and Slavia, two rivals from Prague. It was their derby last season that broke the league attendance record with 6,322 spectators.

A year ago, she made her debut in the national jersey for the U17 national team, for which she already has two starts and more will certainly follow. She has played for the national team in the MIMA Cup in Spain.
