First Naomi Girma to Chelsea, then Olivia Smith to Arsenal, and now Lizbeth Ovalle to Orlando Pride. Women’s football is on the rise, and this year’s third record-breaking transfer fee for a player proves it.
- Orlando Pride completed a world-record transfer to acquire Mexican forward Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle from Tigres UANL for $1.5 million, surpassing the previous women's football record of $1.3 million set by Olivia Smith's move to Arsenal.
- Ovalle, nicknamed “La Maga” ("The Magician"), is the all-time leading scorer for Tigres, tallying 136 goals and 103 assists in 294 appearances, and has won six Liga MX Femenil titles.
- Internationally, the 25-year-old forward has represented Mexico 81 times, scoring 20 goals, and contributed to gold at the 2023 Pan American Games.
- Her contract with Orlando Pride runs through 2027, with a mutual option to extend through 2028.
