Champions again! North Korea defend their U17 Championship title

North Korea clinched the title of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, defeating the Netherlands in the final to successfully defend their crown.  They are now the most successful team in U17 Women's World Cup history. 

  • The tournament was hosted in Morocco from 17 October to 8 November 2025, marking the first time the U-17 Women’s World Cup was held in Africa.
  • This victory adds to North Korea’s growing dominance at youth women’s level, strengthening their position as a powerhouse in the age-group competitions.
  • The Netherlands reached the final for the first time in this competition, making their appearance a milestone despite falling short in the decider. North Korea won 3:0.
  • Key individual awards from the tournament: Yu Jong-hyang won the Golden Ball (best player) and Golden Boot (top scorer with 8 goals).
  • The tournament featured 24 teams, and with this win North Korea further signals the strength and depth of their youth women’s programme.
