Chelsea unexpectedly dropped points to the bottom team in the table

Despite changing coaches, Liverpool has yet to win a single game this season and is struggling at the bottom of the table. The draw with Chelsea was therefore a big surprise.

  • Chelsea opened the scoring early, with summr signing Alyssa Thompson netting in the 9th minute after a setup from Wieke Kaptein.
  • Liverpool responded before half-time, as Beata Olsson sprinted from her own half, received a through-ball from Lily Woodham and slotted past the keeper in the 32nd minute to level the match.
  • Chelsea had a goal by substitute Aggie Beever‑Jones ruled out for offside, which proved crucial as the sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
  • Despite dominating possession (about 65 % to Liverpool’s 35 %), Chelsea couldn’t convert their territorial advantage into a win.
  • The draw means Chelsea drop further behind table leaders Manchester City, remaining three points adrift with less room for error in the title race.
  • Liverpool pick up a valuable point in a difficult season, while Chelsea’s unbeaten run continues (34 games), but they’re under pressure to bounce back.
