Euro day nine. Which players to watch today?

In Group A, both matches will be played at 9 p.m. Central European Time. While Iceland will be playing Norway for pride alone—the Norwegians have already secured their place in the quarterfinals—Finland and Switzerland will battle it out for a spot in the knockout stage. Which players should you keep an eye on?

Switzerland - Livia Peng

The number one goalkeeper, but also Chelsea's first signing for the new season. She is only 23 years old, but is already heading for a fifth league engagement. It will be difficult for her to break through at Chelsea - in addition to the rock-solid position of number one Hannah Hampton, she also faces competition from Femke Liefting, who the Blues signed last season but has not yet had a chance to prove herself due to injury, and Becky Spencer, who came on loan from Tottenham and has since stayed. Although Peng made a mistake in the opening match, she has made some excellent saves in the championship, which will certainly help her with coach Bompastor.

Norway - Ada Hegerberg

Norway will once again be led by captain Ada Hegerberg in today's match against Iceland. Although Norway has been waiting for its big success at a world tournament since 2000, when it triumphed at the Sydney Olympics, its individual players are successful at club level. Hegerberg is the first player ever, and so far the only non-Spanish player, to win the Ballon d'Or.

Island - DagnĂ˝ BrynjadĂłttir

A notable player and a key figure at West Ham, she is known in football not only for her fighting spirit, but also for raising the question of motherhood in top-level sport. This is a question that affects all women's sports, not just football. Although Iceland's chances of reaching the quarter-finals are now over, they are not a team that will easily give up and will fight hard against Norway today.

Finland - Sanni Franssi

There may not have been high expectations for Finland at the start of the tournament, but they certainly surprised everyone with their attractive football and exciting moments. One of the key players in the white jerseys is Sanni Franssi, who until now played for Real Sociedad in the Basque Country and will join London City Lionesses from the new season. The club, which has just been promoted to the WSL, nevertheless has high ambitions. Franssi will be there, perhaps even as a participant in the Euro quarterfinals. We'll see.
