Cloé Zoé Eyja Lacasse is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a forward for National Women's Soccer League club Utah Royals and the Canada national team.
Lacasse started playing soccer at age 3, largely inspired by her brother, Lucas. She would challenge him to 1-v-1 matches, and eventually became skilled enough to beat him, fueling her love for the game.
Cloé's hometown, Sudbury, is known for its mining history and producing talented hockey players. Her mother, however, wasn't fond of the ice arenas and loved the beach and sunshine, which led her to introduce Cloé to soccer instead.
Before fully committing to soccer, she was a national-level taekwondo athlete and holds a black belt.
She focused exclusively on soccer at age 12.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree at the University of Iowa, majoring in Law with a minor in Communication Studies and French.
She suffered a ruptured ACL and sprained MCL in October 2024, which forced her to miss the remainder of the season.
In high school, Lacasse was a standout in soccer, volleyball, and cross-country, earning MVP honors in all three sports over the course of her career.
In addition to soccer, she enjoys running, biking, and swimming.
She has expressed interest in competing in a triathlon after her football career ends.
She's a morning person.
Her favorite song is "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."
Her party trick or a hidden talent is knowing a few magic tricks.
Her favorite quote is from former Arsenal player Kelly Smith: "I'm here to make the best better."
She describes herself as a mix of introvert and extrovert.
Her coffee order is a medium coffee with two milks and a vanilla dipped donut which she calls her weaknes.
Her favorite food in general are fish.
Her favorite Canadian food is Poutine.
She was granted Icelandic citizenship in June 2019 but was ruled ineligible to play for the Icelandic national team in 2020 due to not meeting FIFA's five-year residency requirement. Despite this, she pursued her international career with Canada.
