Janine Beckie

She was born in Colorado to Canadian parents.

She holds dual citizenship with Canada and the U.S.

She was selected eighth overall in the 2016 NWSL College Draft by the Houston Dash.

She scored a hat-trick for Manchester City in the Women's Champions League.

She suffered an ACL injury during a pre-season game, which forced her to miss the entirety of the 2023 season.

She is a Christian.

Her brother, Drew Beckie, is a former professional soccer player and the current team manager for Atlético Ottawa.

She is a co-owner of League1 Ontario club Simcoe County Rovers FC.

She credits her parents for teaching her and her siblings humility as athletes.

She believes her role as a Christ-follower includes honoring God through her athletic talents and showing love to others.

Her father, Gary, and mother, Sheila Brennan, both played basketball.

She also has two sisters - Alysha and Janelle.

She grew up participating in various sports, including soccer, gymnastics, basketball, athletics, and lacrosse.

She began playing soccer at the age of four with Real Colorado.

Growing up, her favorite soccer players were Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, and she admired Manchester City.

Outside of soccer, she looked up to Stephen Curry and Serena Williams.

She supported teams like the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

She graduated from Texas Tech University in 2017 with a degree in Media Strategies.

She did not specialize in soccer until university.

She would like to start a non-profit organization to help underprivileged kids access sports.

She is interested in interior decorating and renovating old homes.

She enjoys coffee, cooking, and spending time in the gym.

Her nickname is "Neener."

Her favorite quote is, "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift," by Steve Prefontaine.

In 2024, she married her long term partner Ethan Sonis.
