Karly Roestbakken is an Australian defender (centre-back) who plays for Melbourne City in Australia’s A-League Women. She has also represented Australia at senior level with the Matildas.
She’s proud of both her Norwegian and Australian heritage, with a Norwegian father and Australian mother.
She didn’t actually join a team until she was 10.
It took only five years from joining a team to signing her first contract.
She moved to Norway in 2020 partly because her dad grew up there and she still has family living there.
If you ask her about Norway, she’ll excitedly talk about her grandma’s cooking - naming foods like skolebrod (custard buns), blueberry pies, and waffles.
