Danella Khalid Butrus is an Iraqi-born Australian footballer who plays as an attacker for Melbourne City FC in the Australian A-League and the Australia U20 side.
She was born in Iraq and arrived in Australia with her family in 2013 after fleeing conflict, with her family having also lived in Syria.
She has spoken about how difficult it was learning a second language and trying to make friends when she first arrived in Australia.
She helped design and run a community coaching session in Cairns for girls aged 8β13 from First Nations, refugee, and migrant communities.
She is of Assyrian descent and a Syriac Christian.
She became the first teenager to win the National Premier Leagues Women's (NPLW) Gold Medal since 2018, finishing on 27 votes and sharing the award with Aleks Sinclair.
