Hayley Emma Raso is an Australian professional football player who plays as a winger for Eintracht Frankfurt and the Matildas.
Raso’s nickname is Ribbons, derived from the signature ribbons she wears in her hair during games and which she got from her grandmother
In 2018, while playing for Portland, Raso fractured 3 vertebrae in her back in an on field collision. The injury, caused by a knee to the back, left Raso unsure if she would walk again. But after extensive rehabilitation she returned 6 months after the injury back in the game
She represented Australia on two FIFA World Cups (2019 and 2023) and 2020 Summer Olympics
Raso signed for Canberra United during the 2011/2012 season. In was her first season in senior football and she managed with her team won the W-League (Australian league)
In 2021, Raso co-authored a children's book, Hayley's Ribbon, based on her own early childhood experience
Raso’s brother Lachlan was born with congenital heart disease and had open-heart surgery in 2015
When she signed for Real Madrid in 2023, she became the first ever Australian to play for Los Blancos
She was shortlisted alongside her Australian teammate Sam Kerr, for the international Ballon d'Or Féminin 2023
For many years, her girlfriend was footballer Jenna McCormick
