Sophia Winkler is a German footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Frauen-Bundesliga and the Germany national team.
Sophia grew up in the Marl region and progressed through local youth setups (VfL Drewer, SuS Concordia Flaesheim) before joining SGS Essen’s youth system in 2016/17.
She participated in the YES Abroad exchange program (profile / alumni spotlight), where she emphasized language learning and cultural curiosity.
In February 2025 Sophia suffered a severe left-knee injury (reported as an ACL / cruciate ligament rupture with meniscus damage; initial scans suggested cartilage/bone involvement). She was ruled out of national team duties and underwent successful knee surgery in early March 2025.
She prefers bagels over pancakes.
