Jamilla Sofia Rankin is an Australian footballer who plays as a defender for TSG Hoffenheim in the Frauen-Bundesliga and the Australia national team.
While attending Rosebank Public School, she competed in athletics as well as football.
Jamilla began her football career at the age of 5 at Eureka FC (playing alongside boys until age 14–15), then progressed through Liverpool FC International Academy (NSW).
She was mentored by Matildas veteran Clare Polkinghorne at Brisbane Roar.
Jamilla is a dog person.
One of her favourite music artists is Ziggy Alberts, and she has attended his concerts.
She loves spending time at the beach, enjoying the sun and the water.
Jamilla enjoys seafood, especially oysters.
Her performances in her first two seasons in the W-League earned her favourable comparisons with fellow Australian defenders Steph Catley and Ellie Carpenter.
When she was 11 or 12 years old, she took a two-year break from football. When she returned, she realized how much she had missed it.
