Malena Mieres García is a Spanish goalkeeper who plays for Melbourne City FC in Australia’s Ninja A-League Women. She has represented Spain at youth international level, including being part of Spain’s UEFA Women’s U19 Championship-winning squad in 2018.
As an eight-year-old in goal, she once started doing somersaults because the ball never came near her penalty area.
She played both as a goalkeeper and an outfield player when she was young.
She took a season away from football because her parents enrolled her in rhythmic gymnastics and taekwondo.
She plays a little guitar.
Her lifelong football idol is Iker Casillas.
