Kateryna Boklach is a Ukrainian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for French D1 Arkema club FC Nantes and the Ukraine women’s national team.
She initially played as a central or right defender and only switched to goalkeeper because her team suddenly needed one and she was both the youngest and tallest player in the squad.
She left Ukraine after the 2022 invasion halted domestic football and continued her career abroad in Poland, Armenia, and France, making her senior national team debut by age 20.
She cites Real Madrid and Ukraine goalkeeper Andriy Lunin as a model, saying she admires both his game and his story of succeeding abroad and studies his movement and tactical reading of the position.
Her personal motto on social media is “look for sparks in little things.”
She loves the “beautiful, romantic, atmospheric” feel of French cities, even though she finds the bureaucracy slow.
