Marie Olivia Christelle Petiteau is a French goalkeeper for Montpellier HSC in France’s Arkema Première Ligue and a long-time French youth international.
She grew up with two brothers, including a twin and all three played at the same club.
She started playing at 6 years old.
She played mixed football with boys until she was 15, says those years “forged and hardened” her, and remembers rival boys assuming “it’s a girl in goal, it’ll be easy” – a comment she used as extra fuel to prove them wrong.
She originally started out as an outfield player; around age 10 she turned up to training one day with a pair of goalkeeper gloves “for no particular reason” – and never took them off again.
As a young keeper she idolised Hugo Lloris and Manuel Neuer.
She studied physiotherapy while at Saint-Malo.
