Justine Lerond is a French professional goalkeeper for Montpellier HSC in France’s Arkema Première Ligue and a regular in the France women’s national-team squad pool.
She grew up in Metz in a football-mad family, with parents who were fervent FC Metz supporters and took her to the stadium from a young age.
She started playing football at seven years old.
She grew up surrounded by rugby before fully committing to life between the posts.
She tore her ACL in 2022.
She is a leap-year baby: she was born on 29 February 2000, which means her exact birthday only appears on the calendar every four years.
Her older sister Pauline also works in football, on the organisational side at UEFA, and Euro 2025 gave them a uniquely shared moment: Justine in the France squad and Pauline working behind the scenes at the France–Netherlands game in Basel.
She has a university degree in Sports Science and says she’d like to work helping children, ideally still within a sporting environment,
