Luisa Guttenberger is a German footballer who plays as a midfielder and captains Frauen Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg.
She began playing football at ASV Neumarkt before joining the youth academy of Bayern Munich.
She made her senior debut at just 16 years old for Bayern Munich II in 2015.
In 2017, she moved to the United States to study at North Carolina State University and play college football.
She earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics and a Master’s degree in International Relations.
She helped Nürnberg achieve promotion to the Bundesliga twice — in 2023 and 2025.
She became the record appearance holder for NC State Wolfpack with 95 matches and was named twice to an All-Star team.
She says she sometimes still dreams in English, a habit from her years in the US.
Her family leaned toward supporting Munich clubs, but she also loved watching Barcelona and Liverpool as a kid — especially admiring Andrés Iniesta.
She played with boys for a long time, which pushed her toward defense, since there she could rely more on intelligence than pure physical strength.
She said she loves spending time in nature and discovered a passion for hiking while in the U.S., especially in national parks.
She also enjoys watching Netflix series and listening to music in her free time.
