Selma Ličina is a German-born footballer who plays as a midfielder for Frauen Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg and the Montenegro national team.
She was born and raised in Bremen, where she also began playing football in Werder Bremen’s youth academy.
She represented Germany at youth level, including the U17 national team, and later switched to play for Montenegro, making her senior debut in February 2025.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Portland.
She started playing football at age five and even used to sleep with a ball in her bed.
At just 15 years old, she was already playing for three different teams at once: her boys’ club TS Woltmershausen, Werder Bremen U15, and the Bremen state selection (Landesauswahl).
She wants to pursue a Master’s in sports psychology, combining her academic knowledge with her football experience.
Selma feels a deep emotional bond to Montenegro and spent every summer of her childhood there, visiting both the seaside and her hometown Rožaje.
Her favorite way to relax is by the sea.
