Mayra Alejandra Pelayo-Bernal is a Mexican footballer who plays as a midfielder. She represents Mexico at the senior international level.
Mayra was born in California and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, holding dual citizenship through her Mexican parents.
She attended American Heritage High School, where she led her team to two Florida state championships before moving on to collegiate soccer.
Her goal against the U.S. was so impressive it earned her a nomination for the Marta Award, recognizing the best goal of the year in 2024.
She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, where she made over 80 appearances for the Florida Gators.
Mayra’s first professional club experience outside of North America was in Spain, where she played for C.D. Parquesol in 2019.
