Nellie Lilja is a Swedish midfielder and the captain of Malmö FF’s women’s team in the OBOS Damallsvenskan.
Born and raised in Malmö, she returned to her hometown club in 2024 after successful spells in Damallsvenskan with Limhamn Bunkeflo, FC Rosengård, KIF Örebro and Djurgårdens IF.
At 15, she debuted in Elitettan for IF Limhamn Bunkeflo and helped the team earn promotion to Damallsvenskan.
Lilja has won the Svenska Cupen with FC Rosengård in 2018.
She wore the captain’s armband for Djurgårdens IF and for Sweden youth national teams before becoming MFF captain.
Returning to Malmö in 2024 was a personal milestone — she described it as a “dream come true” to play for her hometown club.
Training with her sister, who is a Swedish athlete.
She and her sister created an online coaching platform called Systrarna Lilja.
