Renata May is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Born in Vidal Ramos, Santa Catarina, she has built her career in women's football after transitioning from futsal and has competed in Brazil's national women's football structure.
Before becoming a professional footballer, she worked with her parents in onion farming and remained in agriculture until she was 24 years old.
She originally dreamed of playing as a striker rather than a goalkeeper.
Her move to goal happened because a futsal team needed someone to play in net during a local competition. She stayed in the position afterward.
She played futsal in the Alto Vale do Itajaí region before moving into football.
Renata's mother was also a goalkeeper and played for her local community team.
She began playing football at around eight years old.
When she was accepted by Grêmio, she had to leave home for the first time.
She paused her Physical Education degree after earning the opportunity to pursue football professionally.
Renata has spoken publicly about how rewarding it has been to witness the growth of Juventude's women's football department since arriving in 2022.
