Shiho Matsubara is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. She used to represent Japan on international level.
Matsubara was born in Takaishi, Osaka, and is the older sister of fellow professional footballer Yuna Matsubara.
She began playing football in the third grade of elementary school, inspired by her brother, and initially played on a boys' team at Erba FC.
She is a product of the Cerezo Osaka Sakai academy, joining their U-15 team during junior high school.
During her time at Cerezo Osaka, she achieved the milestone of playing 100 Nadeshiko League games by June 2018.
While playing professionally in Japan, she balanced her sports career with education at Mukogawa Women's University Junior College Division.
She served as a coach at the Cerezo Osaka Soccer School during her early playing years in Japan.
Matsubara was a key member of the Japan U-17 squad that won the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica, where she scored two goals.
In December 2020, she received her first call-up to the senior Japan national team for a "Nadeshiko Challenge" training camp.
