The final League Cup matches ushered in the winter break. While the action on the pitch has paused, developments across the women’s football world have not— the transfer window is heating up, and La Reina is set to get her own film.
London City Lionesses have been enjoying a relatively solid season. They currently sit sixth in the table—an impressive position for a team playing in the top flight for the first time. Most experts had predicted a mid-table finish. Even so, and perhaps unexpectedly, the club has dismissed head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur. With the level of investment being poured into the club—including major signings such as Grace Geyoro—expectations and pressure have inevitably increased.
By contrast, West Ham are performing well below expectations. They have recorded just one win so far in the 2025/26 season and, alongside Liverpool, remain rooted near the bottom of the table. As a result, the club has parted ways with head coach Rehanne Skinner. According to the club, a ‘January reset’ now awaits, with former Juventus head coach Rita Guarino set to take over the role.
Swedish champions BK Häcken are also set for a change in leadership. The Damallsvenskan is played on a spring-to-autumn schedule, with the season starting at the end of March, meaning the players are currently on their break. That, however, has not stopped speculation about potential squad changes. While WSL clubs in particular are keeping a close eye on players from Swedish teams, Häcken are preparing to welcome a new head coach.
Elena Sadiku is heading to Gothenburg after enjoying significant success during her previous spell at Celtic. She will now look to bring that experience to BK Häcken, who face not only the task of defending their domestic title but also continue their campaign in European competition.
The opening of the transfer window is drawing ever closer, and with it comes a wave of rumors and speculation. Géraldine Reuteler, who has been linked with Arsenal since the summer, recently spoke in an interview about her desire to play in England. While a move for Reuteler remains speculative, Lea Schüller appeared visibly emotional during Bayern Munich’s most recent match, suggesting that her transfer to Manchester United may be imminent. The Red Devils have already treated their supporters to a late gift with the arrival of Hanna Lundkvist.
One player who will certainly not be leaving Bayern Munich is captain Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir, who has signed a contract extension through 2028, as has Sarah Zadrazil. The Austrian midfielder is currently recovering from an ACL injury, but the club has shown its faith in her by offering a new deal.
