The Women's Africa Cup of Nations has kicked off and the Swedish Damallsvenskan is back. Players from England are gradually returning to their clubs and preparing for the season. And, of course, the transfer window is still in full swing. Let’s take a look at what happened last week in the world of women's football.
2027 FIFA Women's Champions Cup is going to Miami
We know where the second edition of the FIFA Women's Champions Cup will take place. After London hosted the tournament last season, won by Arsenal Women, the 2027 edition will be staged in Miami. Four of the six participating teams have already been confirmed: Barcelona, Club América, Auckland United and Naegohyang. The tournament is scheduled to take place at the end of January 2027.

Missing women's football already?The 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on Sunday, 26 July, with history set to be made as the tournament expands from 12 to 16 teams for the first time ever, including debutants Cape Verde. Reigning champions Nigeria once again head into the competition as the favourites, while Morocco hosts the tournament for the second consecutive edition.

Barcelona FemenĂ secured big young talent
For a while, it looked as though Barcelona might go through the summer without making a major signing. Seven players had already departed, including Alexia Putellas, leaving the Catalan champions facing an end of big era.
Now, however, Barcelona have come to life in the transfer market. Kerolin has been linked with a move from Manchester City, while this week the club confirmed the arrival of highly rated Dutch youngster Renee van Asten.
We described van Asten's story back in April. The Ajax academy graduate turned down an opportunity to study at Harvard in order to focus fully on her football career. Then, on her first call-up to the Netherlands senior national team, she scored and was named Player of the Match.
Turning down Harvard was a considerable gamble. A move to Barcelona suggests it may already be paying off.
Paralluelo to french champions
The Spain international Salma Paralluelo after her Barcelona FemenĂ deparure had been linked with both of Michele Kang owned clubs, London City Lionesses and OL Lyonnes, while several other Women's Super League sides were also reportedly monitoring her situation. Following the arrival of Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, who primarily operates on the right wing, insiders suggested Lyon had cooled their interest in Paralluelo, leaving the future of the Champions League final goalscorer uncertain.
In the end, however, the earlier reports proved accurate. Salma Paralluelo is officially heading to Lyon, where she will begin the next chapter of her career with the French giants.
Belgium's icon joins Como 1907
We told you last week that Como 1907 were making serious waves in the transfer market. What we didn't know then was that they were about to pull off another statement signing.
Joining from Inter Milan is Tessa Wullaert, captain of the Belgian national women's team and all-time leading goalscorer for the Red Flames. One of the biggest names in Belgian women's football, Wullaert adds even more quality to an already ambitious project.
As Como 1907 prepare for their first-ever season in Serie A Women, they have assembled an increasingly impressive squad featuring players such as Sofie Svava, Freja Olofsson, and now Tessa Wullaert. It's a team well worth keeping an eye on.
