What a week it has been in women’s football. We now know where the 2029 UEFA Women's Champions League final will be played, one key player has committed her future with a new contract, and there is plenty more to catch up on. Add to that an incredible round of WSL action and a thrilling U20 Women’s World Cup, and there is a lot to unpack. It’s QB Weekly time!

Cardiff to host 2029 UWCL final

This season’s UEFA WOmen's Champions League final will be held in Warsaw in May 2027, before the showpiece heads to the home of multiple champions Lyon in May 2028. And this week, we found out where the 2029 final will take place.

We have no idea who will be playing in it yet, of course, but we do know where they will be heading: Wales. Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium will host the final, with Ireland and Switzerland also having expressed interest in staging the event.

Banda stays in Orlando

Orlando Pride fans can breathe a sigh of relief: Barbra Banda has committed her future to the club by signing a new contract. The Zambia international has been with Orlando since 2024, and the Florida side have certainly found a gem in their star forward.

Although Orlando are currently struggling in 11th place, outside the playoff spots, Banda has still managed an impressive 16 goals and three assists in 21 appearances. She remains one of the most important players for both Orlando Pride and the Zambia national team.

Arsenal reached new record...but what it costs

Saturday’s 1:1 draw with Manchester United extended Arsenal’s unbeaten home run in the WSL to 20 matches. It also means head coach Renée Slegers never lost a WSL game at home.

But neither the team nor the fans will feel like celebrating. Arsenal have scored just two goals in their opening three league games and, despite creating plenty of chances, have already been held to two draws and one narrow win. Their struggles in front of goal are perhaps best summed up by one remarkable statistic: the Gunners have now registered 55 shots without scoring.

The unbeaten run may still be intact, but right now Arsenal fans have far more reason to feel frustrated than to celebrate.

Holdt damaged Crystal Palace with a hatty

One team that certainly had no trouble finding the net was Tottenham. Crystal Palace goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin was unable to repeat her outstanding performance from last weekend, although the Eagles were forced to play almost the entire match with ten players after Fuka Tsunoda was sent off early on.

Spurs did not make their numerical advantage count until after the break, but once they did, the goals kept coming. Tottenham eventually thrashed Crystal Palace 7:0, with Denmark international Olivia Holdt stealing the show with a hattrick. Victoria Pelova also scored her first two goals in the Spurs' jersey.

We know the semifinalists of U20 WWC

The FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland is heading towards its conclusion, and we now know the four semi-finalists. Tournament dark horses Italy produced another stunning result by beating South Korea and will face Spain for a place in the final.

Pau Comendador scored the goal that sent Spain into the semi-finals and Brazil home, while Colombia followed up their victory over hosts Poland by eliminating Nigeria, who had previously beaten the Young Lionesses 3:0.

Perhaps the most dramatic quarter-final was North Korea against Canada. The Canadians held off the reigning champions for a long time, but two late goals eventually ended their World Cup run.
