QB weekly: 19. 10. - 25. 10. 2026
We've launched LaPrincesa here at QueenBallers, the U17 Women's World Cup has wrapped up its group stage, and Arsenal have finally ended their winless run. And they couldn't have picked a better occasion to do it than the North London derby. It's time for another edition of QB Weekly.
North London is red
After a winless run and their worst-ever start to a season, Arsenal finally have something to celebrate. And what better way to turn things around than with a North London derby win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
Spurs took an early lead through Cathinka Tandberg, but summer signing Georgia Stanway soon equalised before Alessia Russo completed the comeback from the penalty spot. The Gunners also managed to get the job done without Mariona Caldentey, who is expected to miss several weeks through injury.
Arsenal still have plenty of ground to make up at the top of the WSL table, but a win away to their biggest rivals might just be the confidence boost they've been looking for.
USA to Host First Women's Club World Cup in 2028
FIFA has confirmed that the United States will host the inaugural Women's Club World Cup from 5 to 30 January 2028. The tournament will feature 19 teams, with Arsenal, Barcelona, Gotham FC, Club América, Corinthians, Naegohyang and Wuhan Jiangda already securing their places.
The remaining 12 clubs will be confirmed later. While FIFA sees the competition as an opportunity to bring women's club football to a global audience, its timing has already raised concerns. The tournament will take place in the middle of the European season, adding further pressure to an already crowded calendar. The WSL has previously warned that the scheduling could be "catastrophic", raising questions about player welfare and how much more football the women's game can realistically accommodate.
The U17 Women's World Cup Enters the Knockout Stage
The group stage of the U17 Women's World Cup in Morocco wrapped up on Sunday, with Germany emerging as one of the tournament's biggest surprises so far. The Germans topped Group A to secure a comfortable place in the round of 16, while Japan also impressed, winning all three of their matches without conceding a single goal.
Defending champions North Korea, meanwhile, suffered a surprise defeat to Nigeria but still managed to progress to the knockout stage. At the top of the goalscoring charts are the USA's Maddie DiMaria and Argentina's Mercedes Diz, who have been among the standout performers of the tournament so far.
Queenballers have launched LaPrincesa
This past week was particularly special for us at QueenBallers, as we officially launched LaPrincesa, the inaugural edition of our award celebrating the best U19 player. Whether your favourite is Hammarby's Fanny Peterson or Wolfsburg's Anny Kerim-Lindland, make sure to cast your vote and show your support. But LaPrincesa is about more than choosing a winner. We also want to introduce you to some of the most exciting young talents in women's football, giving you a chance to discover the players worth keeping an eye on in the years to come.
Sarina is here to stay
Sarina Wiegman has also brought some good news for Lionesses fans, confirming that she will remain in charge of England until at least 2029. The Dutch coach is set to lead the team through the 2027 Women's World Cup, provided England secure qualification against Ukraine, and Euro 2029 in Germany. There, the Lionesses will be looking to defend their European title once again and make it three consecutive triumphs.

Manchester rivals share the points
The Manchester derby ended in a draw, with defending champions Manchester City dropping points for the first time this season. Chelsea were the biggest beneficiaries, moving to the top of the WSL table thanks to their superior goal difference. City had taken a narrow 1:0 lead through Bunny Shaw shortly after half-time, but Elisabeth Terland spoiled their celebrations with an 89th-minute equaliser, ensuring the Manchester rivals shared the points.
