QB weekly: 28. 9. - 4. 10. 2026
What a week it’s been. We had El Clásico, a thrilling clash at the Etihad and another round of Champions League action. Plenty happened before the international break, so let’s dive into this week’s QB Weekly.
Modesta Uka send Austria Wien to European map
Austria Wien earned their first-ever UEFA Women's Champions League point in a 1:1 draw with fellow debutants Inter Milan. They had been on course for a historic first win after leading for much of the match, only for the Italian side to find an equaliser. Austria’s first Women's Champions League goal was made by no other than Kosovo striker Modesta Uka, who also played a key role in securing their qualification.
NWSL introduced their 17th team
The NWSL has unveiled Atlanta City FC as one of its new expansion teams for next season. The club will play its home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with red and peach as its colours and a phoenix featuring on the crest. We don’t yet know which players Atlanta will bring in, but there is plenty to look forward to. The NWSL is also set to add one more club ahead of next season.
Barcelona crush Real Madrid in El Clásico
A close contest was expected. Real Madrid, strengthened by the arrival of Felicia Schröder, had taken points off Manchester City with the 1:1 draw in the Women's Champions League in midweek and have also been enjoying a solid league campaign. But this time, they were brought crashing back down to earth. Real were already 5:0 down at half-time in the first El Clásico of the season, with Claudia Pina humiliating them with four goals. It eventually finished 7:0. A result Real Madrid will certainly want to forget. Caroline Graham Hansen also showed her incredible run of form with another goal.
Lisa Baum got her first senior call-up
Arsenal fans have not had much to celebrate lately, but Lisa Baum has certainly been one of the bright spots. The 19-year-old joined from RB Leipzig in the summer and scored on her debut against Brighton to secure Arsenal the win. She also opened the scoring against Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday and has been one of Arsenal’s standout players this season.
Her performances have not gone unnoticed by Germany head coach Christian Wück, who has handed the young winger her first senior call-up. Germany have already qualified for the 2027 Women's World Cup and will play friendlies during the international break, giving Baum a perfect opportunity to show what she can do on the international stage.
UEFA Women's Europa Cup draw is set
