Unlike Premier League, both The Women’s Super League (WSL) and Women’s Super League 2 (previously known as Women's Championship) will extend its alcohol‑in‑stands trial into the full 202/26 season.
- Seven WSL clubs included are Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, London City Lionesses, Manchester City, and Manchester United. And from WSL2: Birmingham City, Bristol City, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Sheffield United, Sunderland, and Southampton.
- The initial test ran across 19 WSL2 fixtures last season from January to May 2025, attracting over 51,000 supporters with no safety incidents reported.
- About 66% of fans supported extension (48% strongly), while 84% rated their safety experience between 9–10 out of 10.
- Players and officials noted no changes in fan behaviour, while average attendance and food/drink spending rose during trial matches.
- Because the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985 does not apply to women’s football, alcohol consumption in view of the pitch is permitted in women's matches, unlike men’s games where it remains banned.
