Liverpool has a new club captain

After longtime Liverpool captain Niamh Fahey retired, the question arose: who will take over the armband?

  • Liverpool's defender Grace Fisk was officially appointed as the new permanent captain of Liverpool FC Women, succeeding Niamh Fahey, who retired at the end of the previous season.
  • Since joining Liverpool from West Ham United in the summer of 2023, Fisk has made 51 appearances, scored two goals, and earned the title Players’ Player of the Year in her debut season.
  • Having signed a new contract in April 2025 ahead of Gareth Taylor’s arrival as head coach, Fisk’s leadership qualities impressed Taylor, who highlighted her professionalism, empathy, and standard-setting abilities as captaincy traits.
