Alongside the Euros, the Copa América now also has its champion—and just like in the Euros, it all came down to penalties. Colombia were on the brink of victory, but two goals from Brazilian legend Marta pushed the match to a shootout, where Brazil ultimately triumphed.
- Brazil defended its Women’s Copa América title in a dramatic final, defeating Colombia via a 5–4 shootout after a 4–4 draw in Quito, Ecuador at Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado.
- Colombia opened the scoring in the 25th minute through Linda Caicedo; Brazil responded just before halftime with a penalty by Angelina after VAR confirmed a foul.
- In the second half, an own goal from Brazil’s Tarciane gave Colombia the advantage in the 69th minute; Amanda Gutierres equalised for Brazil about 10 minutes from time, then Mayra Ramírez restored Colombia’s lead shortly after.
- Marta, introduced as a late substitute for Brazil, scored six minutes into stoppage time to force extra time, then struck again in the 105th minute.
