Head coach Sarina Wiegman on Tuesday, 17 February, named her squad for the upcoming fixtures against Ukraine and Iceland. For the first time since Euro 2025, captain Leah Williamson and forward Lauren James return to the team.
“I’m very happy, it feels very good. For her (Leah) too, she really wanted to be back. Leah has trained, of course, and I am in close contact with her and the club. She’s in a good place. she has a little bit lack of minutes. I think there’s some more players who are still building, or didn’t get the minutes we hoped for. That’s one of the reasons we go with a bigger squad, and we do have some time to come together before the ukraine game. I still think those are the best players to call up,” said Wiegman abou Williamson's return.
Hannah Hampton also returns to the squad after missing the friendlies against Brazil and China. Khiara Keating, who deputised in the autumn, is not included this time. Ellie Roebuck joins Anna Moorhouse among the goalkeeping options.
Beth Mead and Ella Toone will both miss out through injury. Meanwhile, Freya Godfrey of London City Lionesses has received her first senior call-up.
