Annaïg Charlotte Thérese Butel is a French professional footballer who plays as a defender for FC Fleury 91 in the Première Ligue. She has formerly played for National Women's Soccer League club Washington Spirit and Paris FC.
To compensate for any physical disadvantage against stronger attackers, she relies on her vision and anticipation skills to stay a step ahead of the play.
She began her youth career in local Paris-area clubs before turning professional at age 15.
She initially joined Juvisy B and later the main team, which became Paris FC. She stayed there for 15 seasons.
She won the European U19 Championship in 2010, playing in five matches.
Her sister, Gwenaëlle Butel, is also a professional player in France.
She started playing football when she was six years old in two clubs in Seine-et-Marne.
She represented France at the 2015 World Cup in Canada.
She keeps her life private and doesn't have a large presence on social media.
Washington Spirit is her first club outside of France and Europe.
