Annia Stephany Mejía Alcaraz is a Mexican footballer who plays as a centre-back. Born in the United States, she represents Mexico at senior level and previously played for Mexico U20.
She was born in California to a Honduran father and a Mexican mother, which gave her more than one international pathway early on.
She could have played for Honduras, and her father even tried to contact the Honduran federation before she ultimately chose Mexico.
Before committing to Mexico, Mejía appeared for the United States U-20 national team in 2015.
Football helped earn her a scholarship to the University of California, Berkeley.
Her listed hobbies at Cal University were reading, working out, and playing football.
