Emily Townsend Menges is an American professional football player who plays as a center back for Bay FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She previously played for Portland Thorns FC, with whom she won two NWSL Shields and two NWSL Championships.
She proudly juggled her first NWSL season with finishing a psychology degree—shuttling between games in Portland and lectures in D.C., even studying on six‑hour flights.
She is the vice-president of the I’m Not Done Yet Foundation, which supports young patients with cancer and chronic illnesses in honor of her late brother, Bobby.
She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Georgetown University with an English minor.
On her days off, she enjoys hiking, going for walks, and working on her literary newspaper called Bel Esprit.
She has a cat named Turtle.
Her favorite food is pizza.
If she could have one superpower, she would choose the ability to fly.
One of her dream vacations is to hike through Patagonia, take a river cruise to Antarctica, and continue exploring more hiking trails.
She is passionate about photography and even has her own photography store.
She is married to Rhian Wilkinson, former Portland teammate and current Wales national team coach.
