Eugénie Le Sommer

Le Sommer was born in Grasse, France, a city famous for its perfume industry, though she grew up in Brittany.

Le Sommer was born into a dedicated "football family." Her father, Thierry, is a retired policeman, and her mother was also a football player in her youth.

Due to her father's profession, the family moved frequently during her childhood, leading her to play for several different youth clubs across France, including Trélissac and AS Guermeur.

She grew up in a large household as one of seven children—five girls and two boys.

Before moving to Mexico, she won a staggering 33 trophies with Olympique Lyonnais, including eight UEFA Women's Champions League titles.

Le Sommer is the all-time leading scorer for the France national team, having surpassed the previous record of 81 goals held by Marinette Pichon.

She became the first woman ambassador for the UEFA Foundation for Children, advocating for children's rights and education.

She holds the record for most international goals for France with 94 goals in over 200 appearances.

She operates her own all-girls football camps in France known as "Stage Eugénie Le Sommer" for players aged 9 to 16.

She married her long-time partner, Florian Dariel, on August 11, 2020. The couple had been dating for 13 years before their marriage.

Her husband, Florian, is also deeply involved in sports. He is a technical event manager who helped organize Euro 2016 and is an avid marathon runner, having completed five marathons, including the Paris Marathon.

Before committing fully to football at age 12, she was a dedicated judoka. Despite her mother’s initial reservations about her playing football, she excelled in both sports for years before choosing the pitch over the mat.

During her time at the Clairefontaine academy, she had the opportunity to meet her footballing idol, Zinedine Zidane, a moment she cites as a major highlight of her youth career.

Beyond her playing camps, she is highly active in children's philanthropy, serving as the first female ambassador for the UEFA Foundation for Children.

She loves to spend time in or around the water doing fun activities.
