Freja Thisgaard is a Danish footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented Denmark at senior international level.
Freja developed through the Viborg football setup before playing for Team Viborg, the club from which she earned her move to Fortuna Hjørring in 2019.
At Team Viborg, Freja was not only the goalkeeper but also the team's captain. A match report from 2019 captured her constantly instructing her teammates to push higher up the pitch — showing that she already had a vocal, commanding presence at a young age.
Freja progressed through Denmark's U16, U17, U19 and U23 teams before eventually reaching the senior national team.
During her first spell with Fortuna, she won two Danish league titles and two Danish Cups, including The Double in 2025.
In January 2026, Freja left Denmark to join Napoli, giving her the first major international experience of her senior career.
Her return to Hjørring was not simply about going back to a former club. Freja specifically highlighted the opportunity to play regularly, compete for the Danish championship and cup, and challenge in European competition.
Freja is a big dog lover, and her family has a furry friend of their own.
