Lorena da Silva Leite, simply known as Lorena, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the Kansas City Current of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the Brazil national team.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she played a pivotal role in Brazil securing the silver medal, notably saving two penalties and making crucial saves against France and Spain in the knockout stages.
She was instrumental in Brazil's triumph at the 2022 Copa América Femenina, not conceding a single goal throughout the tournament and earning the Best Goalkeeper award.
A serious ACL injury in 2023 forced her to miss the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, even though she had been included in the initial squad.
Lorena's journey to goalkeeping began unexpectedly during a neighborhood game when she stepped in as goalkeeper due to another player's absence.
She married her partner Carla in 2024 and they raise Carla's son together.
In May 2024, Lorena publicly shared that her home was affected by severe floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and sought assistance through social media to help rebuild.
