Maria Uhre Nielsen is a Danish footballer who plays as a defender.
Uhre started playing football at just five years old, joining the boys' team at Rishøj Boldklub and staying there for nine years.
Local roots matter to her. She grew up in the Køge area and has spoken about how important it is to remain close to her family.
She has described herself as an unusual captain because being the loudest voice or naturally taking charge did not come easily to her.
She is particularly attached to the club’s supporters and has said their backing has meant a huge amount to her throughout her time at HB Køge.
