Morena Gianfico

Morena says her love for football began thanks to her older brother Paolo, who always included her in games when she was little. He also introduced her to the legend of Diego Maradona by showing her videos and telling stories about him.

She is the youngest of four siblings. Her eldest sister Bianca works as a nursery school teacher in London, her brother Paolo is a medical resident in Milan, and her sister Lara plays volleyball.

Morena's father, Fabio, is a tyre specialist but was also a racing driver. He follows her to matches whenever possible and was only a few metres from the pitch when she made her Serie A debut—a moment she describes as unforgettable.

Morena signed her first professional contract before turning 17, becoming the youngest professional women's footballer in Italy at the time.

Just days later, she made her Serie A debut against Sassuolo, becoming the youngest player to debut in the league during the 2023–24 season.

Her football idol growing up was Diego Maradona. Although she never saw him play live, she says her brother introduced her to his legacy through videos and stories.

Among current players, she says she draws inspiration from Victor Osimhen and Alex Morgan, combining admiration for one of Napoli's great strikers with one of the world's best women's forwards.

Morena is a big dog lover and has a pet of her own.
