Her love of football began at home, where she spent her childhood playing in the garden with her brothers in a sport-loving family.

Her grandad Trevor has played a major role in her football development. He worked with her during pre-seasons, particularly on shooting and other parts of her game.

Football is not her only sporting interest. If she had not become a footballer, she thought she might have pursued tennis, netball or athletics instead.

Growing up, she felt there were not enough football opportunities specifically aimed at young girls. She later made encouraging more girls into the game something important to her.

Lucy Bronze and former Sunderland captain Keira Ramshaw were two of Herron’s biggest football role models growing up.

She has a very specific pre-match sugar ritual. Herron eats a couple of Haribo Tangfastics before games.

Chocolate fudge cake with pouring cream is her favourite food.

Herron has earned several individual honours, including the Barclays WSL2 Rising Star award, a place in the PFA WSL2 Team of the Year, and multiple Birmingham City player awards.
