Magill started playing football at four after following her older brother to Tobermore mini soccer one weekend. She loved it immediately and kept going back.

She grew up playing with boys and was the only girl on her school team. She later played for Cookstown Youth’s boys’ side from the age of 10 until 15.

She is a Manchester United supporter, David Beckham was her favourite player growing up and Sir Alex Ferguson is her favourite manager.

Off the pitch, she enjoys playing guitar and relaxing with chilled music.

She has been an official ambassador for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice since November 2017, supporting its awareness and fundraising work.

She co-created the Born & Bred Podcast with Northern Ireland international Caragh Hamilton, interviewing notable people from Northern Ireland including Jonathan Rea, Lady Mary Peters and Niall McGinn.

Magill earned a PhD from Edge Hill University in 2026. Her doctoral research examined how elite football coaches use video-based feedback, drawing on interviews with coaches across the men’s and women’s game.
