Sophie Jackson is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. She has represented England at youth level.

Her first football memory is playing in the back garden with her dad at around four years old. He would kick the ball towards her and expect her to return it.

She did not begin her career in goal. Jackson played as a striker during her first few seasons before moving between the posts at around Under-11 level.

Her first Tottenham trial felt like a disaster: she remembers being nutmegged three times. She was convinced she had failed, but the club invited her back for a second trial.

Jackson joined the Tottenham academy during her early teenage years and quickly moved through its age groups.

Before stepping up to Under-19 football, she regularly faced boys’ teams with Tottenham’s Under-16s. She found the move into the academy league noticeably more competitive.

She captained Spurs in what was the first competitive final for many members of the Under-16 squad. The team finished the occasion by lifting the PGA Champions Trophy.

Her first senior matchday call-up came with almost no warning. A goalkeeper coach told her after training that she would be on the bench for an FA Cup tie at Everton the following day.
