Last week, Manchester United's ranks were expanded by striker Ellen Wangerheim from Hammarby, who already has experience playing for the Swedish national team. Wangerheim thus became the fifth Swedish player on the team and the 23rd overall in the WSL.
Swedish players are the second most represented nationality in the league after the English. In addition to long-time favorites such as Stina Blackstenius from Arsenal and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd from Chelsea, this transfer window saw the biggest increase in Swedish players. Most came from the two best teams in Damallsvenskan - Hammarby and Häcken. In addition to the above-mentioned Wangerheim, these include national team goalkeeper Jennifer Falk and young right-back Smilla Holmberg.
It's sad, but unfortunately it's reality: Arsenal fans are sad. Leah Williamson had barely returned to the pitch in December, and now she's out again for several weeks. Williamson made her first league start of the year against United and is now out of action again, this time with a calf injury.
Fortunately, the injury is not serious and the beloved player will only be out for a few weeks, not months.
The NWSL kicks off in mid-March, newly expanded by two clubs: Denver Summit and Boston Legacy. Both clubs are slowly unveiling their rosters.
The former, in particular, has made a spectacular signing, with Lindsey Heaps, captain of the US national team, joining its ranks. Heaps is returning home to the US from Lyon, where she won a number of trophies, and has already played in the NWSL for Portland Thorns.
Along with her, it will be interesting to watch Melissa Kössler, who is coming to the US from Hoffenheim, Germany. The 25-year-old striker already played in the US during her college years.Â
Welcome home, Rachel. With these words, Leicester City welcomed its new signing Rachel Williams. Although it might be more appropriate to say "old signing."
Williams has a long association with the Foxes, and her career has been greatly influenced by the club. She joined them at the age of 12 and made her first senior team appearance in their jersey. She played there between 2004 and 2008, then again from 2010 to 2011.
Now, after almost 15 years, she is returning to the club that had such a big impact on her career. She is leaving after almost four seasons at Manchester United.Â
The embarrassing 12-1 defeat against Barcelona was enough for Madrid CFF to replace head coach Javier Aguado. Aguado had not been with the club for long, having only joined in July 2025. No decision has yet been made on who will replace him. The club is currently in sixth place, one point behind AtlĂ©tico Madrid.Â
