Allysha Lyn Chapman is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a left-back for National Women's Soccer League club Houston Dash and the Canada national team.
In the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, Chapman’s microphone exchange with the Australian coach went viral after a collision with Hayley Raso.
She joined the Houston Dash in 2015 after spending three seasons in Sweden.
She played in four of Canada’s six games at the 2020 Olympic Games, helping them win the gold medal.
She grew up competing in multiple sports, including hockey, soccer, track & field, cross country, and skiing.
She earned a degree in Biology from Louisiana State University in 2011.
Her childhood soccer idols included Zinédine Zidane and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
She has a dog named Pepper.
She loves watching hockey.
As a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, she admired Tie Domi for being an undersized tough guy, something she relates to.
She also enjoys going to the beach, shopping, and watching movies.
She grew up in Courtice, Ontario.
She has two sisters and one brother.
At Rio Olympics 2016, she played in the bronze medal game despite a separated shoulder, calling it “likely the most painful game of my career.”
She started playing soccer at age 5 and was a prolific goal scorer before switching to defense. She jokingly said she started playing soccer because she hated t-ball.
She volunteered as a foster dog parent for a rescue organization.
She enjoys going to coffee shops, binge-watching TV shows, and taking naps.
Her nickname is "Chappy."
She had a baby boy named Tavish in February 2024.
She returned from maternity leave to play her first games in July 2024.
