Amalie Thestrup

Thestrup's football journey began in the United States, where her family lived when she was a child; she started playing at five and first played for a local YMCA before joining Concord Soccer.

Her grandfather helped spark her interest in football after playing the sport at a high level when he was younger.

Before becoming a full-time professional, she balanced football with her studies because there was not enough money in Danish women's football to rely on the sport alone.

At Brøndby, she helped the club reach the Champions League semi-finals during her first experience of the competition, an achievement she later recalled as one of the biggest moments of her early career.

After spending years abroad, she returned to Brøndby in June 2026, saying the club had always held a special place in her heart and that coming home felt like the right time.
