Andi Maureen Sullivan is an American professional football player who plays as a midfielder for the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League and the United States national team.
She captained the 2021 NWSL Championship team.
She was the number one overall pick in the 2018 NWSL Draft.
She has a degree in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University.
Her first football memory is playing on the Tigers, a rec team her dad coached, and learning to identify which goal to score on.
Growing up, she played basketball and swam, favoring the breaststroke because it was her dad's stroke at Coast Guard.
Her favorite sport to watch is football because she can see all its nuances, though she also enjoys basketball and tennis despite barely knowing basketball's rules.
On an ideal off day, she likes sleeping in, getting coffee, and walking with her husband, Drew, and their dog, Copua, though more taxing activities like hiking or pickleball are tempting.
Her fridge staples are milk for coffee, carrots, and "Everything but the Bagel" hummus.
Her go-to coffee order is a latte, with favorite shops being Goosecup (Leesburg) and Yellow (Navy Yard & Georgetown).
The best advice sheโs received is to always ask, โWhat else can I do?โ from her Stanford strength coach after an ACL injury.
Her most used apps are FaceTime and Instagram. She uses FaceTime most to stay connected with her husband, nephews, parents, and friends.
She collects mugs and recently started getting coffee shop shirts as mementos, inspired by her husband gifting her shirts from favorite spots.
She earned the nickname "Sunny" during her first youth national team camp, inspired by her bright yellow cleats and cheerful personality. It stuck with her throughout her soccer journey.
Some skills she admits she would like to have are to whistle loudly, speak another language, and parallel park.
From a young age, Andi wanted to be a professional football player. Growing up in Northern Virginia near Washington, D.C., she attended Washington Spirit games, which helped her realize it was possible.
Her favorite thing about football, besides winning, are the relationship and people she is surrounded with.
She loves to listen to Beyonce.
As a pre-game ritual she listens to mellow music to help her calm down.
When she was growing up, her favorite player to watch was Abby Wambach.
If she weren't a football player, she would be involved in athletics, managing and trying to increase access to athletic opportunities.
Her husband, Drew Skundrich, is also a professional football player. They have been married since 2019.
She has three older siblings.
She represented United States at the 2023 World Cup.
